Total Gym Golf Workout with the Golf Core Grip

Golf is a mentally challenging sport. Bobby Jones, one of the most accomplished golfers in history had a famous quote: “Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course… the space between your ears”. Kind of funny, but most golfers know it to be true. For this I recommend my favorite brain exercise for golf, meditation. Golf is also demanding physically. To hit the ball farther, straighter and to minimize back, hip or shoulder pain and injury, you need to have powerful legs, a strong core, flexibility, and solid, muscular forearms for an explosive release through impact to maximize your club head speed.

The versatility of your Total Gym can provide all of these all these benefits to improve your game. Now there’s more! I want to introduce you to a must-have accessory for golfers. This accessory works wonderfully with your Total Gym and I guarantee it will improve your game. Check out the Total Gym Golf Core Grip. And with Father’s Day around the corner it makes a great gift!

The Golf Core Grip is an accessory that you can attach to your Total Gym cables and allows you to emulate great exercises while reinforcing a great neutral grip that all great golfers aspire towards.

Here are five reasons I love this accessory:

Wrist Strength and Stability

If you look at the big hitters, they all have well developed forearms. Check out old school players like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, or modern day bombers like Dustin Johnson. A powerful wrist release through impact creates more club head speed which equates to more distance. And just in case you don’t hit the fairway as often as the pros, strong wrists and forearms truly help you get your club through the rough with maximum force.

Reinforcing a Neutral Grip

The Golf Core Grip puts you in an ergonomically correct grip that all great golfers use.  Ben Hogan, one of golf’s greatest legends, wrote one of the bibles on golf: The Five Golf Lessons. One of his first lessons is the neutral grip and the Golf Core Grip puts you right into that position.

Trunk Rotation with Golf Specificity

While practicing swing exercises with the Golf Core Grip, you are strengthening the core muscles that maintain a constant spine angle (think consistency) and create more power through your rotation. Well, what does that mean? It means club head speed and greater distance. In addition, as an added benefit, it strengthens your lower back so you should experience less back fatigue on the back nine.

Posture and Stability

Doing these functional exercises on the Total Gym always require your core and stabilizing muscles to activate. These functional exercises not only help your posture and stability on the golf course but also in daily life.

Flexibility

Of all of the things I teach my golfing clients now, the primary lesson is being more flexible. If there is one aspect of fitness that all great golfers have in common, it’s mobility and flexibility.

Now, check out the video as I’ll demonstrate a great golf workout targeting the most important golf fitness muscles including recommended repetitions and resistance level.
