Upper Body Workout for Total Gym

Upper Body Workout for Total Gym

Sometimes there is nothing more satisfying than a great upper body workout. Summer is quickly approaching and the time is now to get your arms, pectorals and abs in tip top shape. Having upper body strength is extremely important not only for aesthetics but for our everyday simple tasks such as lifting objects, work and even standing up from a sitting position. Joining us once again on Total Gym Pulse is healthy lifestylist Tiffany Savion who shows us an amazing upper body workout using Total Gym.

Total Gym Upper Body Workout

The workout begins by Tiffany demonstrating laying back with her back flat on the glide of  Total Gym. She states the importance of staying slow and controlled with your entire body being relaxed as you begin. Make sure to tighten your abs by squeezing your belly button to your spine before you start to give them more of an intense workout.

Tiffany then opens her arms to the side similar to the same motion of making a snow angel except she stops at shoulder level. Depending on what level you have your Total Gym set at will depend how heavily you feel it in the shoulders, abs and obliques as you progress throughout the exercise.

Next, Tiffany takes it a step further by turning the exercise into solely an ab focused workout. This happens by lifting your arms vertically above your head and bringing them back down changing the isolation of the muscle group. It’s definitely more intense than the previous exercise because now all the tension is directed to one area. This is a great way to add diversity to your workout. To take this exercise even further you can combine the two previous movements to create a more intense workout in addition to saving time.

Finally, for those who want to advance this workout even further, simply pick your knees up lifting your feet up off of Total Gym glide and continue with the same previous exercise motions. By doing this, you are adding another level of resistance. Tiffany ends the video stating how he she loves “how smooth Total Gym is.” She’s done this same exercise on the floor with weights and says she prefers doing the exercise on Total Gym because it feels more fluent giving her an overall better workout.
