Beach Body Chest Workout for Total Gym

With summer approaching many of us feel the urgency to build up our “beach body chest.” However, in today’s busy world it may be hard for a lot of people to find the time to go to the gym for a great chest workout. Luckily, there is a solution to this dilemma. Here to show us how we can do an incredible chest workout in the privacy of our own homes on The Total Gym is fitness trainer John Peel joining us once on again on Total Gym Pulse.

John begins the video by explaining that this particular workout consists of three different chest-building exercises. The first exercise John demonstrates is a chest fly. This targets the outside muscle of the chest. Start with your arms straight out to the sides and bring them together, squeezing hard at the top where they meet. Slowly bring them back down and repeat this motion. Make this particular exercise a two for one by keeping your core tight, working both your chest and abs.

Next, go from the fly to the chest press by facing your palms down and bending your elbows. Move your hands forward, extending your arms almost completely and then bend your elbows and move your hands backward, creating the pressing motion. Hold your handles in whichever position feels best. This exercise is great for building the middle part of the chest.

Finally, John shows us how to go into a decline fly. This exercise works the pectoral muscle to give it a well-rounded shape. Bring your palms down to your side then lift straight up to about eye level. Hold this position for a moment and squeeze your pectoral muscle before slowly bringing your arms back down to your side while keeping your palms facing up.

You can organize the amount of reps you do for these chest exercises in a couple of ways. You can either do 3 sets of 12-15 reps of each exercise one at a time. Alternatively, you can combine the chest fly, chest press and decline fly into one motion and do 6-8 reps at a time. John says these exercises may not be easy at first, but they can help get your chest beach ready for the summer.

We would like to thank John for joining us once again on Total Gym Pulse, giving us some more great exercises to use on The Total Gym. Look for more great tips coming from John soon and as always, we look forward to your comments.
