tg-groom-workout-video

There’s nothing better than a girl feeling like her Prince Charming just swooped her off her feet effortlessly without a bulging belly getting in the way! Maybe this is a stretch, but the bottom line is that grooms may need manly wedding workouts and diet help too!

If you’re a groom and your wedding day is approaching, it’s not too late to get your physique suit-ready. The workout I’ve created for you is designed to broaden your shoulders, tighten your middle, and melt excess fat from your body.  You will not only look great walking down the aisle, but on your honeymoon too!  Not to mention, your bride will be very impressed and proud of your efforts to look and feel your best on the big day.

Diet and exercise are key components to achieving a physical difference in your body. Making a few diet changes and incorporating a consistent exercise program will get you to your goal. I have a few ideas and tips to help get you started.

DIET TIPS

Simple dietary changes need to be made to change your physical appearance.  Guys, you may love your food, but stop storing more than you can burn. Limit the amount of food consumed at each meal and cut out unhealthy snacks. This isn’t a ‘diet’, it’s choosing better eating habits that will change your life for years to come!

Here are a few ideas and tips to motivate you to look and feel your best on your wedding day.

  • 1. EAT COLORFUL FOODS

Colorful foods provide nutrients your body needs and helps you with weight loss. It can also trick your brain into craving half as much as you normally do!

  • 2. EAT RAW FOODS

Eating more foods in their natural state, such as leafy green salads, raw veggies or grapefruit helps accelerate the digestion process, therefore you’re less likely to feel bloated!

  • 3. DITCH THE DAIRY

Dairy can make you bloated a few inches around the middle, and can leave you feeling sluggish. There are better substitutes to consume instead, such as unsweetened almond, cashew, or coconut milk. If you’re trying to lose the gut or muffin top area, cut out dairy products and you will notice a difference in your appearance and how you feel.

  • 4. GOOD FATS

Eat good fats to melt away body fat! (Ex: salmon, nuts, avocado can slow down fat storage and reduce body fat)

  • 5. HYDRATE

Hydrate and detox by drinking water with lemon slices, snack on body cleansing foods such as celery, fennel, or grapefruit.

  • 6. NO SUGAR

Guys, perhaps you have heard this saying, ‘A moment on the lips is forever on the hips’. Sadly, this applies to men too! Think of your waistline before diving into candy or a bag of chips!

  • 7. CUT SALT

Perhaps you love the taste of something salty, no problem. However, too much salt is unhealthy, can cause bloating, and causes weight gain. You need to sweat this out! Try limiting your salt intake and make sure you sweat regularly.

  • 8. IN=OUT

Focus on what you put in, to get what you want out! Diet is 80% of the work, with the remaining 20% coming from your workouts. Healthy foods nourish the body and provide daily energy. Make a conscious effort to expend more energy with along with changing the foods you consume so that you can see and feel the results.

  • 9. BAN THE BOOZE

Alcohol contains empty calories and can pack on weight around the middle! Being social does not mean you have a whole bottle of wine, a case of beer, or a whisky nightcap! Instead, choose a vodka & soda with fresh lime or a light beer (not 5). Moderation is key.

  • 10. DETOX & CLEANSE

There’s nothing better than feeling good on the inside as well as the outside of your body. Doing a juice cleanse together with your bride will keep you both accountable and aiming towards the same goal.

A clean diet is more than half the battle, but you also need a good workout plan to shed off the extra fat and calories through specific movements.

EXERCISE TIPS

Here are a few tips on how to get the most out of your workouts:

  • 1. INCLUDE EXTRA CARDIO SESSIONS

In order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in. Include cardio style workouts such as circuits, intervals, or HIIT into your weekly routine to burn off extra calories for unwanted fat. Combining cardio and strength intervals will simultaneously blast fat and define your muscles effectively.

  • 2. SPORTS

Joining a league or playing a pick-up game or two can be a great way to sweat off extra weight while having fun doing it. Sports are perfect for those who are competitive in nature. It’s the perfect stress buster at the end of a long workday, as well as good motivation to get out and get moving.

  • 3. FOLLOW THROUGH

Schedule a daily workout time that is most convenient to accomplish. This will allow you to commit to yourself and follow through with a consistent sweat session. A few minutes is better than non!

  • 4. VARIETY

Keep your muscles guessing by performing a variety of exercises, changing the intensity, and alternating the equipment.

  • 5. SEE YOUR BODY THROUGH HER EYES

Ask your gal to identify your most displeasing physical characteristic(s) that she’d love to see you improve. Although the truth may hurt, don’t take it too personally.  It can be an instant motivational tool to get moving and make a physical change.

Changing old habits into new ones takes time, effort, and patience. It takes about 21 days to adapt to a new habit. With the right mindset, and the determination to change, you can accomplish your wedding goals and more.

SWEAT IT OUT WITH YOUR BRIDE

Working out with your significant other is a great way to enjoy exercise together, support each other’s health goals, and spend quality time together. It’s great to engage in an activity that both can equally take part in and enjoy, even if it’s an activity that you wouldn’t necessarily do yourself.

Training together can be fun, but maximize your efforts to accomplish your specific goals. For instance, if you both are trying to lose weight, then your goals are similar, but if one wants to lose weight and tone up, and the other wants to gain muscle and mass, the training routines will be structured a little differently.

Regardless of the exercise or activity, your goals can be met simply by adjusting various components of intensity, resistance, reps, sets, or duration specific to the individuals needs.

Training or doing an activity together is the perfect solution to spruce up a workout with someone who will keep you accountable, as well as motivated to get in shape.  Whether you hit the gym, take a class, run outside, or ride a bike, it’s time well spent together to accomplish similar goals.  Step out of your comfort zone and try something your bride will enjoy doing with you.  Can you say ‘bonus points’!

YOGA CLASS

Taking a Yoga class with your significant other can be a special way to train together to achieve a centering of the mind, body, and heart. It’s a nice way to spend time on a mat next to your partner and enjoy the benefits that yoga provides.

CARDIO CONDITIONING

Walking or running outside with your partner is a great way to sweat off stress, condition your body, and spend time doing it together!

TAKE A HIKE

Pack a bag and hit the trails to break a sweat and burn those extra calories.  Make it extra special with a surprise picnic or take your mate to a nearby fun hotspot to replenish with a healthy meal.

PARTNER WORKOUTS

Double the fun with a partner workout. When working out with a partner or a significant other, you not only spend time together, but you will work out harder than if you were doing a routine on your own! Performing partner drills and exercises can either enhance your stabilization to help your form, or act as extra resistance to make traditional exercises more challenging. If you are not as fast as the other, performing intervals of cardio bursts are also a great option. Check out our blog post on a great Total Gym couples workout here!

BIKE RIDE OR SPIN CLASS

Riding side by side can be an enjoyable cardio treat to get some fresh air, see the scenes of the great outdoors, and are perfect to spend time with your partner. A spin class is also a great option to ride to your own rhythm as the instructor calls out the cues. Plus, it’s a way to zone out with some killer music.

RUN A RACE

Signing up and running a race together could be an amazing goal to do together. It can take your mind off of stressful wedding planning and help get your body in motion! The end result is accomplishing a race together, and your body will be more toned as well!

THE GROOM-ING WORKOUT

So if you’re a groom getting ready for your big day, losing weight and feeling great definitely need to be on your priority list! I’ve created an excellent wedding workout that will develop strength, define muscles, and help you burn off those extra pounds. It’s a “groom”-ing workout that combines cardio, strength, and core exercises using your Total Gym.

Check out the video to see how these exercises are performed.

Please ‘share’ and ‘like’ to motivate other men who need some ‘groom-ing’ preparation for their big day.

NOTE: I suggest learning the exercises prior to beginning the workout so that the circuit flows quickly and transitions are smooth. It’s also helpful to print and hang the workout for quick exercise reference.

Incorporate this workout into your fitness routine two to three days a week.  Increase the intensity to increase the challenge. Feel free to add exercises or create new ones using the workout style as a template. It’s an efficient and effective workout that maximizes your time and accomplishes your goal. This is your ticket to a chiseled, solid physique to look and feel amazing on your big day!

Congratulations to you and your bride.

Love, laughter, & luck,
